History

Château Potensac has a long family history. Indeed, this estate belongs to the Delon family since a very long time and has always been passed down from generation to generation by the women of the family. Today, the estate is run by Jean-Hubert Delon, who keeps it from his paternal grandmother, Georgette Liquard. Château Potensac is generally recognized as one of the major growths of the Médoc appellation. Moreover, it is the only one, at the classification of Crus Bourgeois of 2003 of the Médoc appellation, to have been classified Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel.

Terroir & Vinification

The vineyard of Château Potensac enjoys, whether in the vineyard or for the vinification and aging of wines, the same attentive and rigorous care as the other areas of which Jean-Hubert Delon is also the manager (Chx Léoville Las Cases, Nénin , Clos du Marquis). Exclusively planted with noble grape varieties: 52% Merlot, 34% Cabernet Sauvignon and 14% Cabernet Franc, the vineyards of a high average age (30 years) are located on 84 hectares gravelly hillsides. The work of the vine is traditional and the harvest is manual. Aging is done in barrels for 14 to 16 months, 30% of which are new barrels.

Tasting

At the tasting, Château Potensac offers a very fine wine with a tight texture, a great richness and a magnificent freshness.
