The history of Château Beauregard dates back to the 12th century and to the Knights Hospitallers of Saint John of Jerusalem, to whom we owe the famous Templar Cross, emblem of Beauregard. It was not until 1795, on the ruins of the remaining manor that the castle was built by the Beauregard family on the plans of a pupil of Victor Louis, the architect of the Grand Théâtre de Bordeaux. The Château was acquired in 1991 by Foncier Vignoble. Since then, the vineyard, the cellars and the vat have been completely renovated. For the record, the site is so beautiful that an American architect decides to reproduce a rigorous copy on Long Island. Over the decades, its successive owners have contributed to its development and classification as one of the best Pomerol wines. It is in 2014 that the Cathiard and Moulin families bought this vineyard with the ambition to produce a great Pomerol wine in the heart of a place historically dedicated to the residence of its guests.

Château Beauregard has a terroir of 17.5 hectares in one piece, planted with 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc. The average age of the vines is around 35 years old. The harvest is exclusively manual, made in small containers of 30 kilos to respect the integrity of the berries of the grapes. Techniques of “works in green” to obtain a better ripening of the grapes and a better concentration of aromas and tannins. The entirely new stainless steel vat is completely adapted to the size of the plots so that the wine is vinified at a reliable and precise temperature. Barrels from 5 different coopers are used to bring complexity to the wine.

At the tasting, Château Beauregard offers silky tannins, with aromas of slightly candied black fruits.
