History

A short distance from the town of Martillac, the Domaine de la Solitude has been home to the Sisters of the Holy Family since 1854. The gentle melancholy that reigns there has over the years shaped this magnificent terroir of Graves, has imbued it with an atmosphere found nowhere else. When in 1993 they asked Olivier Bernard, the Bernard family saw a fantastic opportunity to produce a wine in harmony with this place, without denying the contribution of modernism, but always with this idea of a certain past, a certain history.

Terroir

At Domaine de la Solitude, Olivier Bernard has opted for respect for the fruit and its expression, constantly improving his approach and his interventions. This is why he has decided to go in the direction of wine, keeping in mind that a great wine is first of all a great grape. The blend is 50% Sauvignon and 50% Semillon. Chapelle de la Solitude is only the extension of this philosophy: to offer a wine that respects the Graves terroir that we love so much, by selecting the best batches of each vintage. Thus, Chapelle de la Solitude is an exclusivity of Bordeaux Tradition, in partnership with the Bernard family.

Tasting

Vivid, pale gold color with tender green reflections. Then, the nose is fine and radiant with aromas of ripe and juicy white fruits, such as vine peach, pear and mango. Citrus fruits are also well present with pink grapefruit and lemon. Finally, the mouth is smooth and rich without heaviness. It offers a great diversity of ripe fruity flavors. It gives a sensation of sweetness refreshed by a very good acidity which balances the whole.
