Château Grand-Puy Ducasse has entrusted us with the exclusive worldwide distribution of Prélude à Grand-Puy Ducasse, the second wine of Château Grand-Puy Ducasse, 5th Cru Classé of Pauillac. This exclusivity comes along with a total redesign of the packaging, in line with the new visual identity of the Grand Vin, contemporary, elegant and bright.

PRELUDE A GRAND-PUY DUCASSE: THE PAUILLAC SIGNATURE

Created in 1955, Prélude à Grand-Puy Ducasse is, as its name indicates, a true initiation to the style of Château Grand-Puy Ducasse.
Prélude is made from a classic blend of Pauillac wines, composed of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, the proportion of which varies each year depending on the vintage.
To always maintain the Pauillac style, defined by the alliance of power and elegance, the alchemy of Prélude varies above all in respect of this balance. Accessible, delectable, epicurean from its youth, patient connoisseurs of great Médocs will also be delighted by a Prélude that has seen a few years of cellaring.

A GLORIOUS PAST

Château Grand-Puy Ducasse is a mythical estate created in 1625. In 1855, it became one of the 18 Classified Growths of the Pauillac appellation, under its former name Château Artigues Arnaud. The property was renamed Grand-Puy Ducasse in 1932. In 2004, the Crédit Agricole group bought the property, seduced by the potential of the estate, which has parcels of vines on no less than 11 different types of soil in the heart of Pauillac!

A CLEAR SIGHT AND INVESTMENTS THAT PAY OFF

Since 2004, the quality of the estate’s wines has made a real leap forward: the important work undertaken is clearly bearing fruit and the vineyard restructuring plan initiated over 10 years ago is illustrated by the constant improvement in the quality of the wines.
But the projects do not stop there!
The determination of Anne Le Naour, Executive Director of CA Grands Crus Vignobles & Services*, and her entire team, has made it possible to set up an ambitious project, appropriately called “Renaissance“. It is scheduled to be completed in 2024. The exclusivity of Prélude’s distribution and the renewal of the graphic identity are only the first steps of this massive project. Renaissance aims at a complete overhaul of the equipment with the creation of a new vat room and a new cellar, accompanied by a wine tour.

A COMMITED APPROACH

This work is combined to a committed environmental approach with strong statements: HVE certified since the 2016 vintage and more than 30% of the vineyard is currently involved in organic trials.

BORDEAUX TRADITION’S INTEREST TRIGGERED

It didn’t take much to convince us of the immense potential of Prélude à Grand-Puy Ducasse. It is completely in line with our dynamism and long-term vision, as we also live a rebirth since the arrival of new shareholders in 2017.

EXPERTS IN EXCLUSIVE DISTRIBUTION

Even if we focus more on the Grand Crus Classés, 25% of our sales come from distributive wines and these are mostly exclusive. A dozen partnerships have existed for more than 25 years. We recently moved on faster and contracted 30 exclusivities within limited geographical areas, and about fifteen new worldwide exclusivities in the past two years, including Chapelle de la Solitude in Graves created by Domaine de Chevalier, or the unique 100% Petit Verdot from Chateau Belle Vue, Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel.

A STRONGER PARTNERSHIP

Already partners for almost 18 years, Château Grand-Puy Ducasse and Bordeaux Tradition share the same vision of great Bordeaux wines and their distribution: excellence, construction, audacity.

This exclusivity marks a turning point in our history and in the estate’s one. Using their second wine as a true ambassador is a great idea from the estate. And for us, to create a long-lasting distribution around a voluminous wine, in one of the most sought-after appellations, becoming an exclusive distributor is one of the best options.
