History

Intimately related to Château Labégorce as the pediment of its label reminds us, the wine of Château Tour de Laroze is the perfect expression of the Margaux style, underlined by a high percentage of Merlot: fine, elegant, with a subtle and charming fruitiness. However, the production of Château Tour de Laroze is limited, around 24 000 bottles each year. Finally, Bordeaux Tradition has exclusive distribution rights.

Terroir & Vinification

The terroir from which this cuvée is made is identical to that of Château Labégorce: the total surface area of the property is 65 ha, on a soil of 70% sandy-gravel and 30% sandy-silt. The average age of the vineyard is 30 years, and the density of plantation is 8,800 – 10,000 vines/hectare. The grape varieties are 50% Cabernet-Sauvignon, 45% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc & 2% Petit-Verdot. The cultivation practices are traditional, reasoned, very concerned with the balance and well-being of the soil, the plant and the auxiliary fauna. The pruning is practiced in double Guyot. However, it is reasoned at the foot, a particular attention is paid to the aeration and the spreading of the branches. The winegrowers are in continuous training on this subject. The harvest is done by hand, in 10 kg crates.

The vinification of this wine is done in cement and stainless steel tanks, then the maturation is done during 12 months. Generally, the blend of Château Tour de Laroze is composed of an average of 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon.

Tasting

The Château Tour de Laroze is a wine on the fruit, fresh and greedy. It is a nice introduction to the Margaux terroir!
