History

The Domain was created in 1925 by Pierre GELIN. It has been run by Stéphen GELIN since 1969, then by his son Pierre-Emmanuel who took over. The latter pays particular attention to the agricultural method, by certifying the plots in organic agriculture. The wine is certified since the 2016 vintage.
Until the end of the 17th century, the wine of FIXIN acquired a greater reputation than the wine produced by the neighboring commune of GEVREY-CHAMBERTIN. Located in the Côte de Nuits, between Marsannay and Gevrey-Chambertin, FIXIN (pronounced Fissin) was united in 1860 with its hamlet Fixey.

Terroir

This “Village” cuvée is one of the main cuvées of the Domaine. It is indeed produced from 3 hectares of vines, which are on average 35 years old. The soils are mostly made of clay and limestone. The Pinot Noir, the king of the region, is harvested by hand and vinified in the traditional way. Finally, the wine is aged for 21 months in oak barrels.

Dégustation

This wine is particularly fruity and spicy, very delectable and well constructed, all in balance. The tannins are melted, juicy and racy. It is a wine of great elegance, finesse and roundness.
