History

Born into a family of winemakers, Pierre-Emmanuel Janoueix took over Château La Bastienne in 2000, out of love for his terroir and his love of winemaking. From the start, his goal was to produce great, high-quality wines. 20 years later, this objctive is more than fulfilled: his wine is perfectly done, respecting the environment and listening to the consumers’ tastes. Bordeaux Tradition owns the exclusive distribution of this wine, that we qualify as one of our gem !

Terroir

The property is located on the right bank of the Dordogne, 40km north-east of Bordeaux. The vineyards of Château La Bastienne flourish on rich and diversified soils that are land of choice for Merlot. Natural grass cover on all plots ensures biodiversity. As such, the vineyards of Château La Bastienne are certified High Environmental Value. Harvesting is done manually and the grapes are sorted on the table before being placed in temperature-controlled vats. The winemaking is overseen by Julien Viaud from the Michel Rolland Laboratory, one of Bordeaux’s most renowned oenologists.

Tasting

At the tasting, Château La Bastienne offers a ruby color with violet hues. The nose is expressive, with notes of black fruits and sweet spices. The palate is velvety, caressed by smooth tannins. A lot of length.
